Are there second chances in spirituality?
This is a question I have been pondering for some time and the more I think about it the more I feel that perhaps its not about second chances in spirituality but second chances in life iself. In my mind true living is spiritual living. Thinking about the mistakes I have made I realize that each of them were in perfect order and without them I wouldn’t have learned the valuable lessons I have in my tool box today.
So are there second chances? No. There are only chances. There are only moments and each moment grants us the ability to realize Consciousness that is our inner nature and highest Self.
In an earlier blog, I wrote about Swami Chinmayanandji’s At Every Breath a Teaching, now I understand that at every breath there is an opportunity. This opportunity is to make a decision with the highest degree of purity possible by sacrificing the mind to the intellect.
It’s often hard to know what the right course of action is, even Arjuna having Sri Krishna by his side still struggled with this. Disrimination between the real and unreal—nitya anitya vastu vivekah—is the constant plague of the human condition, but with surrender and commitment to purity in sadhana, every decision taken follows perfect divine order.
